Tour Details

A Turkish bath, also known as a hammam, is a traditional public bathhouse that has been an integral part of Turkish culture for centuries. It is a place where people can relax, unwind, and socialize while enjoying a unique cleansing and rejuvenating experience.

Visitors can choose to sit or lie down on the heated marble slab, known as the “göbek taşı”, where they will be scrubbed and massaged by a bath attendant.

The bath attendant, or known as “tellak”, uses a traditional soap and a rough mitt called a “kese” to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. This process leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth, and rejuvenated.

After the hot room, visitors move to the cool room, where they can relax and cool down .This room is typically adorned with intricate tile work and soothing lighting, providing a tranquil environment for visitors to rest and reflect.

In addition to its cleansing and rejuvenating benefits, the Turkish bath also holds cultural and social significance. It has been a place for people to socialize, relax, and share stories for centuries.

In conclusion, the Turkish bath is a traditional form of bathing that offers a unique and relaxing experience. It combines physical benefits, such as cleansing and exfoliating the skin, with social benefits, such as bonding with friends and family. Whether you are visiting Turkey or another part of the world where hammams are available, it is definitely an experience worth trying.
